Frequently Asked Questions
Do you only work with businesses in Birmingham?
No. Most of our clients never visit the office. We’re based in Birmingham because it’s home, but we work with businesses all over England and Wales using secure online systems, video calls and electronic signatures. If you’re in Scotland, we’d generally recommend finding a Scottish accountant because Scottish Income Tax works a little differently. We can certainly help, but a local specialist may be a better fit.
Do I ever need to come into the office?
Only if you want to. Most of our clients upload documents, sign paperwork electronically and speak to us over the phone or on Teams. It’s usually quicker for everyone. If you’d rather sit down over a coffee, that’s absolutely fine too.
How much do you charge?
Probably less than you think. We believe good accountancy should be affordable, especially when you’re starting out. Most clients pay a fixed monthly fee, so there are no nasty surprises.
Are you the cheapest accountant?
No. And we don’t want to be. The cheapest accountant is rarely the cheapest once they’ve missed something important. Our aim is simple: provide great advice, answer the phone, save you tax where we legitimately can and help your business grow.
Will you save me tax?
We’ll certainly try. Every business is different, so nobody honest can promise they’ll save you thousands. What we can promise is that we’ll make sure you’re claiming everything you’re entitled to and help you structure your affairs tax-efficiently.
I hate paperwork. Is that a problem?
Not at all. In fact, that’s one of the reasons people hire us. We’ll tell you exactly what we need, explain why we need it, and try to make the whole process as painless as possible.
I'm terrible at keeping records.
You’re in good company. Lots of business owners are brilliant at what they do but dreadful at bookkeeping. We’ll help you get organised without making you feel guilty.
Can I message you with stupid questions?
Absolutely. We’ve yet to hear a genuinely stupid tax question. We’d much rather you ask than accidentally create a bigger (and more expensive) problem.
I've just started my business. Is it too early to get an accountant?
Quite the opposite. The first year is when most expensive mistakes happen. Getting things set up properly from day one usually saves money, time and stress later.
My current accountant is... well... a bit rubbish.
You’re not the first person to say that. Changing accountants is normally much easier than people expect. We’ll contact your old accountant, arrange the handover and deal with most of the paperwork. You don’t have to have an awkward conversation if you don’t want to.

What software do you use?
We’re happy to work with whichever bookkeeping software suits your business. If you’re not sure what to use, we’ll recommend something simple that fits your budget rather than the most expensive option.

Yes. You won’t be bounced around a call centre or asked to explain your business to someone new every month. We believe relationships matter.
Can you help if I'm behind with HMRC?
Yes. Whether you’ve missed tax returns, have unpaid tax, or simply aren’t sure where you stand, don’t panic. The sooner you speak to us, the more options we usually have.
Do you only deal with tax?
